Apple PC Gets a DRM Chip
August 5th, 2005 by noam, Filed under: Apple, Commentary
Apple has decided to prevent people from downloading their operating system from the Internet (of course pirated) and running it on a non-Apple Intel based PC.
To achieve this Apple has placed a Trusted Platform Module made by Infineon Technologies inside their upcoming Intel based computers.
This makes two firsts, as far as I know:
1) The commercial use of a TPM
2) The use of such a module to prevent the installation of an operating system
You can learn more about this from this link.
