This page will disappear from google soon

Here’s some ammo to the ‘google is the root of all evil’ conspiracy theorists.

The story begins with a google-answers thread, that starts with an innocent question but soon turns into a heated discussion. Our hero is warned: do not write the word “google” in your question or else both the question and answer will “vaporize”. An example is given: a discussion, that (supposedly) disappeared because it contained the g-word. Why ’supposedly’? Because in conspiracy theory 101 you learn immediately: there is no way to prove something disappeared.

Our hero is torn - should he believe the crazies, telling him to mispell the googleword or face annihilation? He decides to carry on, and not give in to the silly threats. He is encouraged by someone ‘in the know’, that tells him this is all nonesense: “the use of the word ‘Google’ in an answer will not cause deletion of the answer”. If he was a politician, he would have used ‘read my lips’.

How does our story end? Well, as expected, the whole thread disappears. Aha! calls the scientist. So you can’t really prove all this really happened, can you?

Actually, I can.

Note to the google Cigarette-Smoking Man: when deleting a web page, don’t forget to delete the google cache :-)
